Gift Guidelines

As sign-ups start soon, here’s a few guidelines that your creations for the exchange should meet.
What criteria should the gifts I create meet?

Fics must be at least 1,000 words (there’s no maximum limit). Art should be of a quality you’d be happy to receive as a gift.

Are AUs allowed?

AUs are a-okay for this exchange, so long as they share a setting (both time period and location) with the original novel. Feel free to undo canonical deaths, give characters supernatural abilities, et cetera. Prequels or sequels to the events of the novel/musical are also acceptable, as long as they would fit into a reasonable timeline with canonical events.

Examples of Allowed AUs

-Everyone Lives or post-Seine AU

-Everything is the same, except Marius is a blue-footed booby

-Gavroche is bitten by a radioactive tick, develops superpowers, and saves everyone at the barricade

Examples of Banned AUs

-Javert is a 16th-century privateer

-Éponine and Cosette attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

-Les Amis…In Space!

What ratings are allowed?

Any ratings are allowed, from G-rated to explicit. Remember that not everyone participating is comfortable writing or drawing explicit fanworks, however, so it’s a good idea to make sure you have some alternative prompts.

How will participants be matched?

Initial matches will be made based on character requests/offers. We’ll do our best, but we can’t guarantee you’ll share other preferences (e.g. ships) with your recipient.

Can I request art even if I’m not offering it?

You can request both fic and art regardless of what you’re offering to create for the exchange. (Keep in mind that if you’re open to receiving both fic and art, you should make sure you have either a set of prompts for each medium, or prompts that could work equally well for either fic or art. Not every fic prompt would make a good piece of art, and vice versa!)
